We've all heard those words. Numerous times, whatever platform you choose. Instagram, Twitter (or X as they call it now), YouTube, you name it, their are 'influencers' trying to sell to you.
We understand people need to make a living. WQ is not here to bash influencers. The real issue is a disconnect between the products being sold and the understanding of the sales person. With the best will in the world, if a person is in good shape, what expertise do they have on the chemical formula of a protein shake? If an influencer looks good in that jacket, what can they tell you about the stitching, material strength and weather resistance, or ethics of the supply chain? You may have lovely skin, but that doesn't make you a dermatologist.
Now, we're sure there are some floating around that do have an extensive vetting process on the quality of the product they sell, but I would not bet much on this being the case for the majority.
What's Quality wants to get back to fundamentals. We want to speak to people with years, decades of experience as masters of their craft to explain what Quality really means. Need a pair of shoes? Instead of buying a pair from your latest smiling influencer's sponsored post, speak to a man who has been shaping and stitching leather around molds for 50 years.
A jumper? Let's hear from a lady who has been knitting for nearly a century on what makes a warm, comfortable woolen garment that will last for countless winters.
We want to be anti-influencers, #antifluencers if you will (you heard it here first), wanting all of us to be more educated, patient buyers who reward craftsmanship above marketing. WQ has a lot to learn, so we hope you can join us on this journey on becoming more meticulous on our buying habits. Welcome to WQ!
